Dove Hunting Season – Just Around the Corner

Great Dove RecipesDove Hunting Season is just around the corner…starting at Sunrise on September 1, 2011.

The larger Eurasian Dove is a beautiful white dove that tends to stay close to homes and endear themselves to home owners. So hunters should be very careful when hunting these white beauties, we want to ensure our community is, and stays, safe!

During the month of August we will be printing some of local’s prize recipes for cooking dove. Anyone interested in sharing their secrets should call (760) 854-3320 to share your favorite family recipes!

Mary Garcia, a long time resident, cooks her dove in a special way. She usually gets her limit of dove daily and freezes many for future use. The favorite recipe she uses is as follows:

  • Clean each bird and stuff them with your favorite dressing recipe.
  • Cover with two cups of red wine, two cups of water, mixed dry onion soup mix and pour over the birds.
  • Bake for one hour at 350 degrees. Garcia says she usually cooks no less than six birds at one time.

We here at Palm Drive Apartments, hope you have a wonderful and safe Dove Hunting Season, because it is just around the corner, right here in Blythe…and don’t forget to share your “secret recipes”.
